Illustration

This illustration project involved creating a storyline based on an existing recipe. I chose to create characters acting within a set scene. To do this, I created separate illustrations of all the characters and the background. With those elements, I explored different layout options that would allow enough space for the body copy (recipe) and could tell the story without additional captions. I decided to use a timeline progression, splitting up the recipe stages to accompany the scenes I created. I used the design principles of emphasis, balance, white space, and proportion through contrasting colours, varying sizes, and locations to effectively arrange the characters and the text. This project displays my attention to detail, and my understanding of colour theory, spatial awareness, balance, contrast, and emphasis.
